Getting Started

How Complain .Space works.

What is Complain .Space?

Complain .Space is a space where people can vent, share a complaint publicly, or ask the community for input. Public complaints can appear in the main feed. Private complaints stay private to the account owner unless the owner later chooses to release them publicly.

Do I need an account?

You can browse public content without an account. An account is required to create complaints, comment, reply, save complaints, use private posting, and manage account-specific settings.

What can I post in version 1?

Complaints and replies are text-based. Profile avatars are supported, but complaint posts themselves do not accept images or video in the current version.

How do drafts work?

You can save an unfinished complaint as a draft. Drafts are visible only to you and can be reopened from your profile before posting.

◉

Privacy & Visibility

Public, private, anonymous, and profile visibility.

Private is the safer default. When creating a complaint, Private is selected by default so publishing publicly requires an intentional choice.
Who can see a private complaint?

A private complaint is kept out of the public feed and is intended to be visible only to the account owner. Private content is not shown to other profile visitors.

Can I make a private complaint public later?

Yes. Releasing private content requires a confirmation acknowledging that the complaint will become publicly visible in the main feed.

What is a private reply?

A private reply is visible to the person who wrote it and the original complaint author. It is not displayed publicly to other visitors.

Does Complain .Space store exact location coordinates?

No exact coordinates are stored by the profile-location feature. When location detection is used, the site stores only a generalized city/state-style label after you save your profile.

Does the site show my full IP address in security logs?

No. The Audit & Security system is designed to show date/time, device/browser, approximate location when available, and success/failure status without displaying or storing full IP addresses in the Page 20 security tables.

◇

Community Rules

Use the site to complain without using it to harm others.

Be respectful

Disagreement and frustration are allowed. Harassment, targeted abuse, and threats are not.

Protect privacy

Do not publish sensitive personal information that could put another person at risk.

No emergency misuse

Do not use Complain .Space to encourage prank calls, false emergency reports, swatting, or misuse of emergency services.

No exploitation

Content involving sexual exploitation or other serious safety risks can be prioritized for moderation.

No spam

Do not use complaints or replies primarily for repetitive spam or deceptive promotion.

Use reports responsibly

Report content because it may violate site rules, not simply because you disagree with it.

⚑

Reports, Moderation & Appeals

What happens when content is reported.

What can be reported?

Logged-in users can report complaints and comments for reasons such as danger, harassment, privacy concerns, spam, sexual exploitation, emergency misuse, or another rule-related issue.

Are dangerous reports prioritized?

Yes. Reports involving danger, sexual exploitation, or emergency misuse are treated as high priority in the moderation queue.

What happens when a comment is removed?

The original record can remain stored for moderation and audit purposes while users see a “Comment removed by moderation” placeholder instead of the removed text.

Can I appeal a moderation decision?

Eligible removed complaints and comments receive one appeal. Restoring appealed content requires approvals from two different Super Admin accounts.

What happens after a successful appeal?

The content is restored and marked “Reviewed by moderators and approved.” Permanently approved content is protected from repeated reporting through the normal report workflow.

⚙

Account & Security

Passwords, username changes, deletion, and restoration.

What are the password requirements?

Passwords must contain at least 8 characters, including at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character.

How often can I change my username?

A username can be changed once every 180 days.

What happens when I request account deletion?

Deletion is scheduled with a 30-day grace period. During that countdown, you can return to Account Status & Deletion and choose to keep the account.

Can a deleted account be restored?

After final deletion, an administrator restoration request may be possible for up to 3 months, depending on eligibility and what retained data is still available. Restoration is not guaranteed.

What does Log Out All Devices do?

It invalidates existing Complain .Space login sessions, including the current one, so the account must sign in again.

!

Notifications & Announcements

How site updates reach you.

How long are notifications kept?

The notification center follows a 30-day retention period for user-facing notifications.

Can I mute notifications?

In-site notifications can be muted for 1 hour, 8 hours, or 24 hours. Muted notifications still accumulate so you can review them later.

Where do site announcements appear?

Announcements can appear in the notification center and in the 30-day Announcements archive. Email delivery may also be attempted depending on server mail configuration.

Ad

Advertising & Data Use

How relevant advertising is intended to work.

Advertisers should not receive your raw private complaint text or account identity. Advertising relevance can use broad subject/category signals while private posts themselves remain private.
Why might I see a relevant ad?

The site is designed to support contextually relevant advertising based on broad topics and categories—for example, a pet-related ad near a pet complaint where applicable.

Are ads recommendations from other users?

No. Sponsored placements should be labeled as advertising and should not be presented as though another user personally recommended the advertiser.

Will private complaints be shown to advertisers?

The intended privacy model does not expose raw private complaint text or user identity to advertisers. Any future data-sharing or monetization features should use consent, legal review, and de-identification controls before launch.

Does the current site already sell user data?

No data-sale marketplace is implemented in the current build. The reporting and analytics tools are internal administration features.

Safety

Safety resources and child/parent information.

Complain .Space is not an emergency service.

If someone is in immediate danger, use the appropriate emergency or crisis service for the person's location rather than relying on a website post or reply.
